Don’t be fooled, be careful in choosing your dentist…

28 Jun

Why oh why do dentists advertise themselves as the best dentist in London, with one calling himself  the best in the world!!

Here is an example of veneer over preparation and complete tooth destruction by an apparent world leader in cosmetics, who was subsequently sued.

Cosmetic Dentist, Best Dentist in the world

Veneer Overpreperation

I know of many dentists who are leaders in their fields, but they don’t advertise it. They are usually quite senior with over 25 years of experience.
I am not London’s best dentist, but I am one of the top 2 in London for Invisalign.

How can I say that? well ive done over 550 Invisalign cases and over 6 years.

I have not rushed treatments by just treating the front 6 teeth, hence increasing my case number. I have taken my time to treat patients until they are happy.

In fact patients get more fussy, the straighter their teeth become.

If you want to know what a leading dentist charges…well its about 4000 GBP for Invisalign and about 1000 GBP per veneer. That price means they are spending their best time with you and also using top technicians, who use the best materials.
If you think that Clearstep, Simply 5, Inman Aligner are better than Invisalign then ask the dentist to show you 20 finished cases, from mild to complex crowding.
I know that I can. In fact the only way to know a top dentist is to look at his portfolio and see if he has any cases to show you. A top dentist will spend about 45 minutes explaining what he does, how he does it and the end results.

DO NOT BE FOOLED THINKING THAT A CHEAP DIAMOND IS AS GOOD AS AN EXPENSIVE DIAMOND. THEY ARE BOTH DIAMONDS BUT ONE IS WORTHLESS.
Anyway be more discerning when you have dental treatment.

An invisible brace that straightened my teeth and no-one could see it!

Just received a testimonial from Lisa:

My name is Lisa I’m a nurse/therapist, living in London since 2000. As a child I remember making numerous trips to the dentist with my mum for fillings and extractions due to teeth growing in unusual directions. As I approached my teens and noticed a lot of my friends were wearing bracesI thought it unusual that my teeth were worse than a lot of theirs and I couldn’tcomprehend why my dentist had never mentioned me having them, soI approached my mum and dentist about it.

In Ireland free dental care is provided to those under the age of 16yrs, however due to the high volume of severe casesI wastold I didn’t qualify for freedental care becausemy teeth were not bad enough.’ Unfortunately my parents couldn’t afford such an expensive treatment thereforeI went through my tender teens hiding my teeth when smiling and avoiding as many photographs as possible. Friends and colleagues never commented on my teeth but that’s becauseI always tried my best to hide them.

As an adultI now have the ability to pay for private treatment. Metal braces were never really an option asI was paranoid enough about my teeth without having so called ‘train tracks’ on display.I’ve thought about veneers as a quick fix and gaining that extra confidence sooner rather than later, however,I didn’t like the idea of destroying my own teeth whenI could preserve whatwas already there and healthy!

WhenI first heard about Invisalign I thought it was too good to be true; an invisible brace that straightened your teeth and no-one could see it. I researched it and thought brilliant, i want it!

I’ve always been sceptical about dentists and thought money only matters so when I went to Harley Street, ‘the street where money is made’ I thought this guy is going to try andpersuade me to get veneers. I was surprised to find that Dr Kumar was against veneers and totally supported the fact thatI wanted to preserve my own teeth.

Initially the Invisalign did cause slight tooth and headache, but with any brace there’s pressure surrounding your teeth, this proves they’re moving and that’s a good sign! Each week I insert my new braceas my teeth are starting to take shape, it gets easier each time.I actually get excited when the week is up and I can see they are moving!

I can’t thank Raj enough

From the beginning of my teenage years I had big issues with my smile. My bottom teeth were extremly crowded and my top teeth were slightly crooked. Basically I had a horrible smile which meant that every time I had a photograph taken, I was always smiling with my mouth shut tight and would hold my hand over my mouth when I laughed.

I was so hung up on the crookedness of my teeth, that I wouldn’t even bite into an apple in public, as the bite marks left in the skin would make me feel ashamed.

I found out about Forma 86 through my partner, who had had his teeth done there. He had the most amazing smile so I couldn’t wait to visit Raj and get some advice on the solutions to my smile.

Initially it was recommended that I would have my teeth filed down and six porcelain veneers fitted to the top and bottom teeth. I was really pleased that there was a light at the end of the tunnel, but the treatment was very expensive and something that I could not afford at that time.

I think about a year passed before I returned to Forma and Raj excitedly told me about Invisilign. I couldn’t believe it when Raj showed me the clear braces and how there would be no wires on show, just a retainer which was completely clear and really made your smile look shiney.

I couldn’t wait to start the treatment and as it was so much more affordable than veneers, I was able to have the moulds made up and was quickly back at Harley Street having my aligners fitted. When Raj showed me how straight my teeth would be after around 12 months of wearing  progressive sets of alligners, I was in tears. At last my smile would be one to be proud of.

The whole experience was relatively pain free and even when the aligners were a bit uncomfortable, I just thought about the end result and how amazing it was to get there without the metal braces that so many other people have to wear.

Before I knew it, I was at the end of my treatment and had a pearly white smile which everyone comments on. I am still dazzled by it and check out my new bite marks whenever I eat. I never thought I would have a lovely smile and now it is one of my best assets! I can’t thank Raj enough.

My orthodontist told me that I’m not suitable for Invisalign

20 Jun

Most orthodontists treat their patients with traditional metal braces. The problem is that most patients find them ugly and painful.
Invisalign can treat most patients so long as the dentist has enough experience.
I have treated patients for over 6 years and have never turned anyone away.
We have seen patients from large overbites to severe crowding. So before you are told that Invisalign is not suitable, try asking Dr Kumar/
